Adolescent Services

The Adolescent Services provide specialist inpatient and outpatient programs for young people aged 12-22 years who are experiencing difficulties which prevent them from achieving their potential.

As these problems may be expressed in many ways, our programs involve the whole family, not just the adolescent, because a young person’s problems cannot be effectively treated in isolation.

The Inpatient treatment and Day Programs include:

  • individual therapy
  • family therapy (as required)
  • weekly parent and sibling support groups
  • liaison with school and other relevant work and community services

Group programs are informed by are a number of core themes which aim to increase resilience, independence and emotional wellbeing by addressing general life adjustments, self-concept, self-management and lifestyle and draw from the evidence based therapies.

The emphasis of the program is on personal growth, connectedness, emotional health and overall wellbeing.

The Adolescent Unit is a 10-bed unit for adolescents and young adults 12-22 years who may present with a range of psychiatric problems including depression, anxiety, psychosis, school refusal, social and behavioural problems, and eating disorders.
