Pre Admission
Patient Services staff are located on the ground floor in the Reception area will facilitate your admission upon arrival. Unit staff will escort you to your room and orientate you to the Clinic. Staff will answer questions you may have relevant to your treatment, safety, security and routine of the units.
The Clinic offers a high standard of accommodation with both shared and private rooms available. All rooms have ensuite facilities. Whilst we make every endeavour to provide you with your accommodation preference, please understand that in certain circumstances of high activity or emergency admission it may be necessary to offer you a shared room.
Your room will be cleaned daily, however, your cooperation is sought in keeping your room neat and tidy. The overall therapeutic approach includes responsibility for making your own bed each morning.
WHAT TO BRING FOR ADMISSION
- Referral letter (if applicable)
- GP details
- Medicare Card
- Private Health Insurance Card
- Veterans Affairs Card, Pension Number and Pharmacy Entitlement Card
- All medications you are currently taking including tablets, vitamins, mixtures, creams, inhalers or drops. Check with staff whether or not to bring your dosette
- Several changes of casual clothing, comfortable shoes and a hat
- Sleepwear, dressing gown, slippers, reading material
- Toiletries and washing powder
- Mobile phones are permitted in the Clinic, however the camera function may not be used to preserve the privacy of other patients
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ramsay Unit
Please make sure all items are labelled with your name. Please bring any aids that you use, e.g. hearing aid, walking aid.
Parent Infant Unit
Nappies, bottles, formula, bottlebrush and steriliser, personal toys, pram or pusher and any special dietary requirements for baby/toddler
An infant floor rug, an Ipod (MP3 player) or CD play and baby’s toiletries.
Adolescents
A small sum of money, for sporting and social activities
Bathers and sports gear.
DO NOT BRING
- Valuables or large sums of money
- Non prescribed drugs
- Alcohol
ACCOUNTS
Prior to your admission we will liaise with your health fund to confirm any fees you are required to pay personally. Please note that this service can only be offered during business hours. On admission, Patient Services Staff will explain to you your hospital charges and health fund requirements. For after hours and weekend admissions contact will be made with your fund on the first working day after your admission when outstanding paperwork will also be completed.
A Pharmacy fee of $200 is payable on admission. Any unused portion of this fee will be refunded upon discharge.
PRIVATELY INSURED PATIENTS
Claims for hospitalisation will be made directly to your fund. Any outstanding balance not covered by your fund e.g. excess and co-payments will be required to be paid on admission. You will receive separate accounts for additional services such as treating doctor, pathology, x-rays, physiotherapy, A&E transfer to another hospital, etc. If you have any queries please phone the Accounts Manager on 9256 8315.
PRIVATELY PAYING PATIENT (UNINSURED)
Privately paying patients will be required to pay for one week’s accommodation upfront and continuously one week in advance throughout your stay. On discharge you will be directed to Patient Services to finalise your account.
WORKCOVER & THIRD PARTY PATIENTS
Patients need to supply insurer details and claim numbers, as we require written approval before admission.
METHOD OF PAYMENT
We accept cash payments, eftpos or credit cards (Visa and MasterCard).
