COVID-19 update from Albert Road Clinic
25 September 2020
Thank you to our patients, employees and doctors for your ongoing support during the global COVID-19 pandemic. It certainly has been a challenging year for everybody and we understand the additional stress and anxiety this evolving situation may cause for many people.
Albert Road Clinic is completely committed to providing patients with the best possible treatment and experience throughout their wellbeing journey. Our skilled teams are focused on providing consistent high-quality patient care while strengthening our culture of ‘people caring for people’.
Since the start of the pandemic, we have been working closely with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Australian Department of Health and our national COVID-19 response team to implement all necessary health and safety precautions. Like all health care organisations, we are committed to doing everything we can to mitigate the risks for our patients, staff and doctors during unprecedented circumstances.
You may be aware that we recently had two staff members who separately tested positive to COVID-19. Authorities were unable to identify a link between the two cases despite robust contact tracing and mapping of their movements. We carried out asymptomatic testing of staff, doctors and inpatients at the clinic as a precautionary measure. This testing did not identify any additional positive COVID-19 cases. All close contact inpatients and staff have completed their 14 day isolation period and none of them have returned positive COVID-19 results.
The clinic continues to follow our comprehensive pandemic response plan and all new advice from state and federal health authorities to make sure that we continue to respond rapidly, expertly and above all else safely.
Some of our strategies to keep you safe include:
- Strict screening and temperature checking procedures
- Requirements for the use of PPE (including masks and eye wear)
- Education and training for all our staff
- Strict Hand hygiene
- Increased cleaning of frequently touched surfaces
- Visitor restrictions
- Social distancing measures, including maximum room capacity limits
- Minimising movement of patients and staff between wards within the clinic.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support, as we navigate this pandemic together.
Patients who have enquiries should contact their treating psychiatrist or a member of our team on 9256 8311.
