COVID-19 update from Albert Road Clinic
4 September 2020
Thank you to our patients, employees and doctors for your ongoing support during the global COVID-19 pandemic. It certainly has been a challenging year for everybody and we understand the additional stress and anxiety this evolving situation may cause for many people.
Albert Road Clinic is completely committed to providing patients with the best possible treatment and experience throughout their wellbeing journey. Our skilled teams are focused on providing consistent high-quality patient care while strengthening our culture of ‘people caring for people’.
Since the start of the pandemic, we have been working closely with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Australian Department of Health and our national COVID-19 response team to implement all necessary health and safety precautions. Like all health care organisations, we are committed to doing everything we can to mitigate the risks for our patients, staff and doctors during unprecedented circumstances.
We have been advised of two staff members who have separately tested positive to COVID-19. Authorities have not identified a link between the two cases based on robust contact tracing and mapping of their movements. In line with our strict infection prevention protocols, all of our staff members have been wearing masks and protective eye wear, and practising all recommended measures, such as social distancing, regular hand hygiene and adhering to room capacity limits.
As a precaution, we are acting proactively and decisively to carry out asymptomatic testing of all staff, doctors and inpatients at Albert Road Clinic from Friday 4 September. While we remain confident that the two cases are not linked, it is important that we identify any potential asymptomatic carriers as early as possible.
We understand that this information may raise concerns, however, we can assure you that our clinic continues to follow a comprehensive pandemic response plan to make sure we respond rapidly, expertly and above all else safely. This plan has been accompanied by the development of local procedures, education and training of all staff and the procurement of additional personal protective equipment. We are constantly reviewing our policies to ensure we comply with any new advice from the state and federal health authorities.
Some of our strategies to keep you safe include:
- Strict screening and temperature checking procedures
- Requirements for the use of PPE (including masks and eye wear)
- Education and training for all our staff
- Strict Hand hygiene
- Increased cleaning of frequently touched surfaces
- Visitor restrictions
- Social distancing measures
Thank you once again for your ongoing support, as we navigate this situation together.
