Outreach Unit

Outreach Community Visits:

Patients of the Clinic can be referred to Outreach, and be assigned to an Outreach clinician who visits the patient in their home or residence. The service can provide short-term support and problem-solving to help people during and after acute episodes of illness. Outreach also provides assistance for longer-term illnesses by motivational support, and lapse/relapse management. Outreach is often employed in collaboration with other treatment modalities (e.g. day programmes) to offer the treating doctor and the patient a comprehensive and flexible plan of treatment.

Outreach Activity Programmes:

Our unit offers a number of groups or half-day programmes designed to encourage a healthier lifestyle and to improve social skills. For instance, the Wellness Group is a course which features education about nutrition and lifestyle and the practice of some gentle exercise. It is well-established that a healthier routine as well as physical exercise can assist people to recover from a range of mental illnesses (e.g. depression). Activity and social "outings" groups (e.g. movies, visits to parks and galleries) are also organized and run by specialist mental health professionals to facilitate improved social skills and to overcome anxiety in a safe and supportive structure.
